elfutils and libgc FTBFS

Hello!

Both elfutils [1] and libgc [2] currently fail to build from source on
sparc64. Both are important packages with many reverse dependencies.

If anyone has the time and knowledge to look at the issues, I'd highly
appreciate any possible hints for a fix.
