I'll rebuild one of my SunBlade 2500 latter with sid and see if I get the same result. If it doesn't show the symptom I will rebuild my T2000 and see if it is something specific to the Niagara T1.

Hum, I tried with a T5220 with debian 7.5 /wheezy.
Same result, the strcmp is ok.
Could you try with unstable ?
