Lenny Sunblade 150 xserver issue

Hi,

I had successfully upgraded to Debian Lenny from Etch on my
SunBlade150 15 days back.

Everything was working fine until today morning when I did aptitude
safe-upgrade and it upgraded xserver-xorg-core package. After upgrade,
xserver does not start and I see a black screen with a non-blinking
"cursor" on the top left corner. Keyboard is alive as I can see
Num/Caps/Scroll lock keypresses lighting up respective LEDs, but
pressing "CTRL-ALT-F{1..6}" does not have any effect.

I had to hard reboot the machine in single user mode and disable GDM
from starting up.

Doing

dpkg-reconfigure -plow xserver-xorg xserver-xorg-core

generated a new xorg.conf file but again no luck. Replacing driver
"ati" with "vesa" is not helping anyhow.

Any pointers?

regards,
Nishant
