Re: List of supported machines and flaws with it?

Hello,

	Hello,

I have seen on several mailinglists peoples asking about Debian support
for sun machines, namely older ones...

Since the CPU of my Sparc Ultra 20 is exploded (!!!) I have the need to
reinstall my SS10/512 (Dual-PU) and since I use older hardware many
peoples (specialy IT/Scientific students) have asked me about...

So not THE auestions:

1) Is there a list od Sun Computers (SS5, SS10, SS20, SU5, SU10,
SU20) with which Release(s) they are working?

I don't know if that list exists... But, I use a debian/testing on a SS5 (MicroSPARC-II/85 256 MB). ZX support (framebuffer console) seems to be broken, thus, I only use a CG6 with this workstation.

SS20 works fine with 2.6 kernel in UP _and_ SuperSPARC-II/75. I use a dual SuperSPARC/75 SS20 for tests but is not stable enough to be usable (I'm building a 2.6.21-rc2 on a SS20 with 448 MB and a 8 MB VSIMM, the 2.6.19.1 was the best kernel I have tested on SS20-SMP). HyperSPARC support is broken (I have tested one, dual and quad RT626). When the SuperSPARC configuration will be stable, I will try to fix the HyperSPARC cache trouble...

All sun4m and sun4u workstations are supported (I have tested SS4, SS5, SS10, SS20, HyperSTATION from ROSS, U1, U2, U5, U10, U30, U60, U80, U220, U420).

2) Is there a list of hardware which work or does not work?

All current Sbus cards work. All but Sunlance after 2.6.18.

	Regards,

	JKB
