RE: How Can I Help (was Installing Debian on an Ultra 5)
Hi there,
Firstly, thanks to everyone that helped last week with my newbie-ness to
SPARC and Sun machines - I got a null modem cable and have happily and with
no problems installed Debian Sarge on my Ultra 5, plus upgraded to unstable
with the 2.6 kernel, plus submitted an installation report.
>From the Debian SPARC ports page (http://www.debian.org/ports/sparc/#who) it
says to chime in to see if there's any help needed with the SPARC port so,
here I am, chiming in. Not sure how or what I can do to help, but I'm
certainly eager to learn :)
Sorry if this appears twice, but I sent this ages ago, and a reply I sent to
the list has appeared but not my original message, so I'm sending again.
Many thanks
Kevin Fullerton

I never used the Ultra 5 but it looks close from the Ultra 10.

It depends on the setup of the Sun. A is the default, but may be the
previous owner changed to B.
There is no automatic fallback from A to B.
If you want to use B and have no screen but a keyboard, you can type:
STOP-A (to go to the console)
setenv output-device ttyb
setenv input-device ttyb
reset
See http://www.ultralinux.org/faq.html#q_5_23

Yes
