From the Debian SPARC ports page (http://www.debian.org/ports/sparc/#who) it

certainly eager to learn :)
Here are some ideas:
* Watch the sparc buildd status page at
http://buildd.debian.org/~jeroen/status/architecture.php?a=sparc
Examine the build failures trying to determine whether the problem is
sparc specific and anything can be done about it. Gather the
information about the feasibility of porting (if it is required) or
arguments against porting, update the wiki page at
http://wiki.debian.org/SparcPorting appropriately.
* Test the daily installer builds, file installation reports if someting
goes wrong.
* There is an effort to do the daily builds of the kernel packages from
svn for testing and to catch the build failures early. Sparc is currently
not participating in it. If you have an idle box, setting it up to do the
daily builds and test them would be a nice idea.
* On Ultra 5 there are some unknown issues with xorg. I was able to set up
working X with the ATI card there, others failed. I have no idea why, if
you have a monitor hooked up to your box you can try to figure it out. See
recent thread on debian-sparc mailing list.
