I'm not sure that anyone here will be able to help you without more
details of what you did.  Without enough information to repeat *exactly*
what you did no one else will be able to confirm what the problem is.
So, you may need to post which release of Debian you are using, which
package you installed (and from where), what happened when you installed
it (copy and paste the all of the error messages), what you tried then,
etc.
