that's a bit presumptous don't you think. we all know that it's not
*simply* a port that *only* has a different kernel.  There are lots of
things that can't be handled by sparc hardware that are different, the
loader for instance... which makes install this "debian port" give so
many people a headache.

True. But once one can get a basic debian system sucessfully installed the rest of the system seems to be the same as other debian systems. The differences between the "32bit userland" and the 64bit processor may be noticable with some programs.
