SOLVED: Trouble with PCI cards on an Ultra 5
Hi all,
the problem turned out to be hardware related ... :-(
For the state of both cards (SCSI & USB/IEEE) inserted I collected some
typical information (dmesg, lspci). Than I removed both cards and did
the same ... No difference (nearly) !
I inserted the SCSI card and it showed up correctly in dmesg, lspci
etc.. Next I added the USB/IEEE card and ... the SCSI-card disappeared
again.
It seems that the USB/IEEE card is blocking the PCI bus of the 5 ultra.
(Its working in a recent PC with WinXP though ...)
The IEEE/USB card blocking the PCI bus is a
Manhattan Mercury 4port USB/3port IEEE with two Via chips
onboard.
Two questions remain:
* Can someone recommend an interface card (USB/IEEE) that *works* on a
sun5u ? Price would not be the first issue, but ...
* Has someone had similar experiences or an explanation ?
