problem with eeprom

Hi all.
I have a sun blade 100 and after many problems the debian sid is
installed.
I need change the value "ok setenv auto-boot?" from "true" to "false",
my machine already have the value to true.
I read that is possible change this value with the eeprom command but
when i run this, the system show:

atlantis:~# eeprom
Cannot open /dev/openprom

Why?

I can mount the openpromfs filesystem without problem (the openpromfs
module is up), but the eeprom and prtconf command says the same error:
"Cannot open /dev/openprom".
I have installed the kernel 2.4.18 (original instalation package) and
this is my module list:

atlantis:~# lsmod

The devide /dev/openprom exists:

atlantis:~# ls -ld /dev/openprom
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 10, 139 Mar 15 2002 /dev/openprom

Anyone have a idea?

Many thanks,

For reference, attach my dmesg
