The best way to check is by looking at /proc/cpuinfo.

Nope. The default kernel does not include SMP support. You'll need a
kernel-image-2.x.x-x-smp kernel package.

I presume ksoftirq is something to do with IRQs - I don't know but I'm sure
somebody on here does. In this case the 'k' stands for kernel.
