Granted, this wasn't on Debian, but the problem here appears to be trying to build xine-lib without using --enable-vis on SPARC systems (like the 32 bit SPARCs who have no VIS extensions). Using --enable-vis builds and seems to work OK. I haven't figured out how to get --disable-vis configs to work yet, but hopefully this will help whoever ends up working on it.
