I have booted the kernel sucessfully with this patch, using tftp. As I did not have a linux-sparc machine to compile the kernel, I used a crosscomplier (using an old egcs version). The compiler gave a internal error on the qlogic fiber channel driver. I can give you a copy of the kernel without this, but as your system probably resides on the fc disks of the netra, this won't help you as it didn't help me.Does anybody have an .iso or full tftpboot.img with this patch in it? I've tried building it myself against the 2.4.19 kernel, but that did not work. I must be missing a number of other patches, and it'll probably be a hassle for me to figure all of them out.
I passed this patch on to the people who manage the sparc version of the gentoo distribution and they included a patched kernel on their sparc version (target on startup is "jove"). As the machine I had to work with has started its life as a server (running solaris), I had to stop testing. The last version I tested was test-8.iso on http://cvs.gentoo.org/~manson/iso/ It hung after decompressioin. Please contact manson@gentoo.org for further info/help.
