X & wmaker on i386

For over a week I worked without success 
to run X and wmaker on an old AST Bravo
LC2 4/33.  The XF86Config-4 and XFree86.log 
files are available at the URI below under
the heading "Text Files Available by http".  

I'm baffled.  Any suggestions?
