Re: root password

boot the rescue image from floppy or tftp and then edit the shadow and/or passwd file. (e.g. add user with uid 0 with a plaintext password)
then reboot and logon with that account....

Hi,

I got a second hand sparcstation 10 ( solaris 2.5.1). There is no CDROM
driver. I don't know root password or any username. I use single user mode
to recover root password, but still need password. Is there any way that I
can get the root password? I cannot mount SCSI disk to modify shadow file.
And I don't want to delete everything before I try solaris UNIX.

I can creat solaris 8 software CDs as a file server in local network.

I am not on mailing list, so please cc to me. Thanks!

Regards!
