This still doesn't seem to work for me. It doesn't appear that silo is writing to the drive at all.
However, since I now get kernel panics everytime I try to access /dev/md0, I should probaby debug that first. Where's the best place to send bug reports? I'd like to get a few off while I can - It's unlikely my boss will let me deploy this now. =(

You should be able to put in silo.conf that /dev/hda is the boot
partition, root=/dev/md0 and append="md=0,/dev/hda1,/dev/hda2
devfs=mount". Then run "silo -f".
