RE: 1st time installation on a Sun Sparc Ultra 10...

Title: RE: 1st time installation on a Sun Sparc Ultra 10...

Hey Ben (you must be in oz?),

Yes the cdrom is IDE...

hda: primary master (1st hard disk)
hdb: primary slave (cdrom)
hdc: secondary master: (2nd hard disk)

I've tried doing "boot cdrom root=/dev/hdb"

but getting the same errors...

???

Well the reason I asked if you "created" (as in from the debian-cd
tools) was because creating Debian/SPARC cd's requires some finesse.
Since you downloaded these images from a know good source, then the
problem lies elsewhere.

What is the setup of this system? I presume it is IDE (for the cdrom)?
If so, which connection is the cdrom on (primary/secondary
master/slave)? The install CD assumes /dev/hdc (secondary/master). If
it's anything else you'll need to supply root=/dev/hdb or root=/dev/hdd,
depending. Don't supply a partition number, since it isn't partioned.

Ben
