mouse/keyboard configuration for XFree 4?

Hi,

I've just upgraded to 4.0.1-8. 'X -configure' just crashes. If I
move /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libfbdevhw.a away, it generates a broken
configuration file.

I now have a XF86Config that brings up X when started with
"-allowMouseOpenFail".
I've tried several mouse protocols but none made the mouse working.
Can someone tell me the right entries for the mouse and keyboard (Type 5)
sections?
