Problems with potato boot floppies

I'm trying to install potato on an IPC. Here's its breakdown:

24M memory
207M hard drive
CG3 card
2nd Lance Ethernet card

I grabbed the boot disks and tftpboot.img from marcus.debian.net

I keep getting Data Access Exceptions from the tftpboot.img, it never
gets anywhere.

I grabbed the sun4cdm floppies, the kernel boots okay, but then asks me
for a root floppy. It's been a while since I booted from floppy (slink),
but I thought the root image was on that disk... When I tried having
it use the rescue floppy, no go, it didn't work. When I put root.tar.gz
on a disk, it loads that up but then tries to mount it as a UFS filesystem...

This doesn't work and the kernel panics. Any suggestions?
