kernels above 2.2.9 fail on SS5

Hi,

I have a machine with Potato, running 2.2.9.

A few days ago I have compiled the 2.2.13 and the latest 2.2.14pre and got
strange behaviour.
The machine starts and works beautifully with 2.2.9 (except some known
bugs and the annoying *** tcp.c:tcp_data bug acked < copied messages),
but if I use any kernels newer than 2.2.9 all the things go wrong.
I have tried 2.2.10, 2.2.11, 2.2.12, 2.2.13 and 2.2.14pre18.

The machine gives me SCSI read errors, but only with >2.2.9.
Any ideas?

Thanks.
