Are you familiar with ftp, cd, get?

If not, you may want^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hought to use the links in the
Installation Instructions pages at www.debian.org. Even if you're
familiar with ftp through the Microsoft ftp client, I'm guessing
that perusal of those pages would be good for you.

In fact, review of those pages myself show that there is a bootable
CD image. Have you obtained such a CD? In that case, just
boot -cdrom at the ok> prompt.

The image for the boot floppy, a.k.a. the rescue disk,
can be ftp'ed from ftp.debian.org
/debian/dists/frozen/main/disks-sparc/current/sun4u/images-1.44/resc1440.bin.
also get drivers.tgz in the same directory.

Hmmm. I didn't expect this (an example of what happens when one
bends the rules ;-). I'm not an expert on DSL connections, not (yet)
having one myself, but I'm more familiar with the users of those
being given a static IP address range by the ISP, typically 16 IPs.

In this case, is the DSL modem external, and actually your DHCP server,
as well as your router?

In that case, you are your own LAN admin, and can "borrow"
at will any of the IPs in the range given to you.

Or are you oppressed by having dynamic addresses assigned by your ISP
at connection time? (I find it hard to believe this is the case, and
if so, you probably ought to renegotiate with your ISP, since DSL is/can
be "always on", and you should be able to host your own DNS server, as
well as other services.)

Oh, glad to help. Sorry for being so slow with it.
