I am I sure the old kernel worked ?
I may be new to the sparc platform but I can tell when it Boots up and
runs <grin> Yes I have on kernel in my silo.conf that runs and
everything else ( either compiled by me or images from Debian.org or
even incoming) gives me the error

What is on Device 0 ? Nothing there never has been anything on scsi
0 I have device 1 ( root hard drive ) device 3 ( old small hard drive
mounted on /xtra just cause I couldn't se not using it ) and device 6
a PLextor 2x cdrom the working kernel came from boot disks from debian
.org and I think they were actually the potato disks at the time as the
slink disks failed to load the drivers disk. I got a clean compile with
the source of 2.1.125 no patches apllied ( by me at least ) I got the
source from Debian in the sparc source Dir. and I have also tried a
kernel image of 2.2 both exhibit the probing device zero error.

Thanks for the suggestion everyone but I do not have a solution as of
yet ?

I have not tried moving a device to target 0 as I dont feel it should
be needed ( I have one kernel that works after all )
