Re: Can't start X

Hi, I can't start X.
I am a newbie to debian and sparcs, although I have some experience
with Read Hat in a pc. CD's purchased from Linuxmall were used to
install in a Sparc 5 with a Z24 frame buffer: Debian 2.1; Linux verion
2.035 #1 Wed Feb 17, 1999; kernel-image-2.0.35_2.0.35-4.

After entering "startx" these are the error messages:

  "_X11transsocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect errno = 61
 giving up
xinit: connection refused (errno 61) : unable to connect to Xserver
xinit: No such process (errno 3) :server error"

What is missing?

 (Using information from debian-sparc archives of Feburuary-June 1999, I
 make changes as follows:
 mknod /dev/sunmouse c 10 6 (not 11, 6) with root owner & tty group
 ln -s /dev/sunmouse /dev/mouse) " "
 chmod 666 /dev/fb? " "
 mkmod /dev/fbuser? " "
 mkmod /dev/fbautodetect) " "
 chmod 666 /dev/kbd " "
