esp0 error on boot with 2.2 kernels only?

hi there,

i'm not sure if this has been asked (i didn't notice it in the
archives), but i've run into a boot problem on my sparcstation 2 while
booting 2.2 kernels (i've tried debian packages for 2.2.1, 2.2.5, and
2.2.9, and compiled my own 2.2.9). the message i get is:

esp0: Warning, live target 0 not responding to selection.

this repeats forever...i need to stop-a and reboot again (not that it
matters)

my root partition is /dev/sda1, and i'm kind of a newbie to sparcs (been

running linux/x86 for years), so i'm not really sure where to start
troubleshooting..

has anyone seen this error before? and if so, do they know of any kernel

parameters i might need to pass to function properly? a fix would be
nice..

also, please cc me on the thread as i'm not positive my subscription has

gone through yet.

thank you very much for any and all help you can provide,

marc reichman
