re: Stall on debian sparc installation with version 2.0.35

One addition, can anyone let me know the ftp full path to the version of Debian linux for
SPARC that I should be attempting to use here? I don't mind trouble shooting and/or
debugging on behalf of the group.

Well... I was really feeling pretty good about myself here until this install process put me back
in my place again. Sheeeesh.
I decided to can the RedHat 5.2 installation for the time being and opt for your Debian Sparc release.
I downloaded via ftp dated 12-08-99 version 2.0.35.
For the first time ever, and all by my lonesome I might add, I setup an evironment to do a rarp/tftp
boot and did so very successfully.
I managed to initiate the boot process from the SPARC 630MP to an Intel based S.U.S.E. installation.
It worked without a hitch........................ until.... that damn
Freeing unused kernel memory: 40k code, 4k data
message again. The exact same point at which the RedHat 5.2 stalled as well.
To digress a bit.... I am attempting an install of linux on a SPARC 630MP with 64mb of RAM
and 4 CY605c processors. I am also installing through the serial ttya console port as this machine has
no keyboard nor video adapter.
The command line I entered at the ok prompt was:
"boot net console=ttya"
I have also attempted other command lines suggested in the installation notes, all with the same
end result
It started up right off the bat and pulled the tftpboot image from the SUSE machine just slicker then
hell. But then it stalled when it reached the line referenced above again. Knowing that there are indeed
Sparc 4m/690's running on linux, this is the only shinning light at the end of the tunnel that keeps me
pursuing this endeavor. There are times however when I find myself wondering if that light just isn't
another @#$#$^^$&^%**%^ train coming at me. :)
So.... now that I have eliminated RedHat and the CDROM as being potential culprits... any suggestions?

I have appended to this the captured output front the ttya console port as the boot process commenced
in hopes that it will flash a brief moment of "I KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!!" in someone.
I have been succesfull at identifying a source for Solaris 2.5.1 if all else fails here. I just really hate to go
that route when I would much rather settle in on Linux across the board.
Also, can you think of any others I might forward this off to that could help? That is, other succesful
installers of a Sparc/linux marriage.
Look forward to hearing from any soul that can shine a glimmer of light on this subject.
