Re: Ethernet cards, Gfx programming

Hello Anders, Dave, all,

this starts to get much more interesting than i thought ;)

The Sun is here now :)
Inside is a TGX (that's what i didn't hope for).
It seems that i may receive additional machines
(with a nice chance to finally catch a TCX :))
and so i may get a few cards for networking, too.
Today i'm fetching the needed packages and try to get the hole thing up
and running (including the TGX).
BTW, i would like to install another SCSI-HD in the Sun. May i use the
CD cable? I read something of autorecognition. Adapters SCSI-2 <---> Sun
internal SCSI?

Ok. This *is* fast and integrated. BTW the application is in development
(i did the theoretic stuff long enough :), so the network code isn't
even done. Many parts are tested with code, but i did this all on one
Dual-PC. But i didn't come to a desicion whether to use IP based
networking or not (i thought about building my own 'protocoll', etc.).
I will look into this today.

FDDI? What's this? (sounds familliar)
FibreChannel. This is very interesting, too! No problems with fields,
etc.
Very reliable, right? Who? What Companies? Where? How? How fast? How
much? :)

This would be very nice. A week ago i decided to buy another Dual PC.
Now
i'm reconsidering. I will more likely go in another direction :) How
fast
things change, funny.

Thanks so far,
	and a sunny day,
