gcc? kernel sources?

i imagine i need a set of patched sources to get to compile gcc2.8.1 and
newer kernels... but i can't seem to find them.

i've looked in debian.org, redhat.com, rutgers.edu... but no luck.

can someone tell me where else can i look, or where should i double check?

also: how can i compile other GNU compilers (G77, GCL, G-Pascal...)? i'm
setting up a lab with 40 SparcStation4 machines and wouldn't like to see
solaris on them!

thanks in advance

alberto
