This bug has already been reported (please always check the BTS *before* to
avoid such duplicata): #47330. To summary, the upstream author is aware of it
and promises it will be fixed in the next version. In the mean time, the only
simple workaround is to switch to SGML mode.
As usual, if you have work to do, stay away from Debian "unstable", which
deserves its name...
