Did you modify /etc/syslog.conf ?
No, but I hav a new file named /etc/syslog.conf.lock who contain only 26898
Can you put the file on the web somewhere (http://rafb.net/paste)
and show us the link?
OK, here my /etc/syslog.conf : http://rafb.net/paste/results/vu91Zw34.html
I say also, partitions for usr is mounted in read only mode, binary
directories and executables are immutables, like /etc.
Neither of those are security precautions, really.
It's in an official debian security guide ( txt format )
A: Knoppix needs lots of RAM and a x86 architecture (Intel, AMD,
etc.). You might get it running on an old 486 with at least 48MB RAM.,
but don't expect much (like gui). You're better off with a pentium
class machine with at least 64-96MB RAM. Knoppix-STD is very reliant
on RAM, the more the better.
So why not just add more RAM?
Because I dont have any free place (bank?), and I have only 8M of ram
(sticks?). 4x8M :-(
I hope to find a small boot disk, with some command line tools to check
the system integrity. 32M is huge for this.
My 32M system has apache, apache-ssl, courrier-imapd-ssl,
courrier-pop-ssl, exim, thttpd, mysql and rarely swap.
I have developp some open source projects on, and I need all of this...
Thank for your patience.
