Well...

I've rolled my own in the past.

OTOH, I've been wrestling with a build error for 2.4.23 for the past
couple of days of intermittent, half-hearted efforts, for an undefined
reference in drivers/char/drm/drm.o.

This stuff is great when it works.  When it doesn't, I learn an
appreciation for Herber Xu's majick.
