I noticed some months ago that my issue.net file is "broken", ie an ssh connection shows the tokens unsubstituted. Console connections that use /etc/issue look fine. Doesn't seem to be any information around on the topic that I can find by google or grep. Is it possible some security option I've configured might have blocked the subsitution?
