The IP specification states that the above diagram is exactly the same
as

  ROUTER-------- Linux ------
                            |
                            | Internal_IP
                            |
                ----------------
                |     HUB      |
                ----------------
                 | | | | | | | |

That is, packets from the internal network destined to Linux's real IP
never hit the router.
