You may want to look here:

ftp://ftp.ca.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/portable/ChangeLog

20000626
 - (djm) Better fix to aclocal tests from Garrick James
   <garrick@james.net>
 - (djm) Account expiry support from Andreas Steinmetz <ast@domdv.de>
 - (djm) Added password expiry checking (no password change support)

So, you may want to build from source for your machine(s) to get
slightly improved aging support. I imagine the ability to change an
expired password will probably come soon.
