GSoC'25: Introducing Myself as a Debian Contributor

Greetings to the Debian Science community!

I am Spaarsh Thakkar[1], a GSoC'25[2] contributor under the mentorship of Cordell Bloor[3](cc'd). I am an undergraduate student, pursuing a degree in Computer Science Engineering.

I’d like to briefly introduce my GSoC project and the work I plan to do.

My planned work falls into two categories:
1. Packaging ROCm libraries for debian
2. Enabling ROCm support in existing debian packages

As part of the second category, I plan to work on enabling ROCm support in DBCSR[4] and CP2K[5] - packages I understand are maintained by the Debian Science team. I am looking forward to collaborating with the team and welcome any guidance or suggestions.

I also plan to package hipblas-common-6.4.0[6] and hipBLASLt[7] for debian and enable ROCm support in Gloo[8].

I am excited to contribute and learn through this process, and look forward to working alongside the Debian Science team to make the most of this opportunity.

Regards,
Spaarsh Thakkar
