It is not quite relevant to Debian, but when asking for a grant,
your software having citations really helps, whether it is 10, 100
or 1000.

Good point. I agree that as Debian is not a scientific software (or,
better: Research Software) I suppose it's in fact not so relevant
to the project for now.

I would just write

[1] Debian GNU/Linux, version 12.7, the Debian project, https://www.debian.org

I think it is good enough for now for my case.
