I've also asked to be added to the R team. We have been running
Scientific Linux so far. Over the last few years I have created
hundreds of R and python packages for SL. These were never really
easily accessible to the outside world. Now that we are moving to
Ubuntu and the packaging system is a lot saner I decided to make all my
packaging effort as public as possible. Having said that, I hope I will
need to do less packaging (one of huge the benifits of using
debian/ubuntu).

To some extend I will wait for user requests for packages and deal with
them as requried.

I will make a start with hd5r
