Sounds like that AMD has totally no ambition in scientific computing.
Well, non-free blobs (e.g. mkl, cuda) continue dominating this field.

Sadly, your assessment sounds quite accurate. I had hope back then which was my initial motivation to package these libraries.

I asked Intel about open-sourcing mkl in the past and it seems too hard to
achieve due to historical reasons. However a new mkl component, mkl-dnn is
released under Apache-2 .

I suspect contacting all copyright holders for mkl to ask for relicensing could pose a significant challenge amongst other things. Glad to hear newer mkl modules are open sourced.
