Converting STL to Solid file

Dear all,

  Does anyone knows if there is an application which could convert an
STL (or any other equivalent unstructured triangulated surface
representation, eg. vtk...) to a geometric model (acis/sat, brep,
iges...).

  Actually the root problem is that i need to generate a geometric
representation of an object. Coming from a VTK world, this is easily
done with the marching cubes algorithm, but I am thinking that maybe
other toolkit exist to reconstruct the 3D geometric object (or an
approximation) from a set of raster images.
