Thanks.

Also, it might be useful to link back to where the syntax of these
fields is defined - and how the use in blends is different (if at
all).

Done. There is no difference (which I know of - and there should not be).

mlpost in typesetting has a Vcs-Browser field:
Vcs-Browser: http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-ocaml-maint/packages/mlpost.git
but this information is not shown at
http://blends.alioth.debian.org/science/tasks/typesetting.html

Fixed. See

http://blends.alioth.debian.org/science/tasks/typesetting.html#pkgsvn-debs

Have I got something wrong - other than the fact that Vcs-Git would be
better[1]?

Well, Vcs-Git should be sufficient to calculate the Vcs-Browser URL.
If you point the mouse over the link the Git URL is added - I did not
yet found a better usage for this data. Suggestions?

Would the appropriate Vcs-Git field be:
git://git.debian.org/pkg-ocaml-maint/packages/mlpost.git

I think so. Just as you would use it in debian/control.

Unfortunately, trying to depend on science-numericalanalysis
in the physics metapackage hasn't worked - presumably because this
package will only exist in the archive when new tasks packages are
uploaded to the archive.

Yes, as I said in one of my previous mails. Two things have to
happen first:

   1. ftpmaster edits override files so the uploaded debian-science 0.4
packages can move to experimental. My guess is that ftpmaster is
currently busy with release issues and I would try to ping them
at about one week after the release.

   2. Either

      a) I'm ready with parsing experimental in the tasks generating pages

      or

      b) We release debian-science 0.5 to unstable instead of experimental

      ... whatever happens first

So for the moment your dependency which is perfectly reasonable will not
become effective - but it is for a presumably not to long time span.

[1] According to
http://blends.alioth.debian.org/blends/ch-sentinel.en.html#s-packageslist
If you have set Vcs-Svn or Vcs-Git there is no need to set
Vcs-Browser explicitely because it is obtained automatically from the
other fields.

The only usage *for* *the* *moment* is a tooltip for the link. If you
have better ideas to present this data - just tell me.

Kind regards

        Andreas.
