ciao David,

> you may find giftrans useful.

ok, this count how many different color exist in a .gif image

$ giftrans -l paper-001.gif
Global Color Table:
        Color 0: Red 255, Green 255, Blue 255, #ffffff (white, gray100, grey100)
        Color 1: Red 204, Green 204, Blue 204, #cccccc (gray80, grey80)
        Color 2: Red 153, Green 153, Blue 153, #999999 (gray60, grey60)
        Color 3: Red 102, Green 102, Blue 102, #666666 (gray40, grey40)
        Color 4: Red 51, Green 51, Blue 51, #333333 (gray20, grey20)
        Color 5: Red 238, Green 238, Blue 238, #eeeeee
        Color 6: Red 221, Green 221, Blue 221, #dddddd
        Color 7: Red 187, Green 187, Blue 187, #bbbbbb
        Color 8: Red 170, Green 170, Blue 170, #aaaaaa
        Color 9: Red 136, Green 136, Blue 136, #888888
        Color 10: Red 119, Green 119, Blue 119, #777777
        Color 11: Red 85, Green 85, Blue 85, #555555
        Color 12: Red 68, Green 68, Blue 68, #444444
        Color 13: Red 34, Green 34, Blue 34, #222222
        Color 14: Red 17, Green 17, Blue 17, #111111
        Color 15: Red 0, Green 0, Blue 0, #000000 (black, gray0, grey0)

and how can I know "how much" Color 7 (for example) there is in this
gif?

My best wish would be:

Color 0: 1.4%
Color 2: 4.5%
Color 10: 50.1%
....
...

(% of surface, image extension)

maybe something biologic software?
(my photo are photo of a paper with spot to measure)

thank you.
