It describes installation for the Marist distro, but tape writing should be 
the same as for Debian with the exception that Debian has a second Ramdisk 
for the OCO-modules. See for example

The Debian for S/390 documentation is not yet finished.

I don't know details about Vintage, but I think it was too slow.
