No, this is wrong, but these two drivers know how to cooperate.
In case of serial mice, X server takes over device completely,
and releases it to gpm only when you switch to textual virtual console.
In case of PS/2 mouse there was some problems with it,
so it is reccomended to avoid simulateous access to /dev/psaux .
