It seems 20:00 UTC is rather later for people in India.

I am not sure I will be able to attend at all during that week (work
trip), but I will make an effort. In any case let me provide some initial
input for the proposed items:

I think we should just go ahead and do it. I can do the ruby-defaults
upload turning builds for ruby2.2 on, but I would need help from someone
to track the fallout and follow up with bug reports. Of course we will
also need help from everyone to fix the bugs found.

I did submit a slot for Ruby BoF, but that is pretty much it. I will be
glad to have someone helping organize.

I have some experience with handling several problems in redmine that I
think will be useful in hanling gitlab (and that would be useful for
diaspora as well, but unfortunately I didn't have the bandwidth to look
at it yet). So even though I will probably not have the time to do the
packaging myself, I am willing to review it.

I also started prototyping a dh_rails helper tool, plus a template
package from where we can extract the scaffoling for a dh-make-rails
later at https://gitlab.com/terceiro/skbb (look inside
debian/bin/dh_rails), but I am not sure when I will be able to finish
it.
