you can override what dpkg-shlibdeps detect, but it sounds like you want
to write your own shlibs/symbol files that tells
ruby1.8 | ruby-interpreter for all involved libraries ?
The last part of shlibs files is a free text file that is passed
verbatim into the depends file.
