Trouble with base-files package on Milk-V Mars

Hello folks,

This is my very first message - please bear with me.

I am an (unlucky?) owner of a Milk-v Mars dev board. I am using the 'official' image, which is based on a bookworm 2022 riscv64 port. apt upgrade doesn't do anything.

Hence, I decided to bite the bullet and switch to Trixie by repointing apt sources.list.

Long story short, I ended up here: https://wiki.debian.org/UsrMerge

Is there a way to force-apply the contents of the package? Is it relatively safe to do so?
