Hi Mike,of course I'm ok with working in public and cross-posting is also fine with me.
Ok. I Cc: debian-remote ML then with this next post.
I subscribed to the recommended list and I'm looking for some non-graphical usable IRC client I can keep running somewhere (in screen) -> WIP
irssi is the one I use.
As you mentioned: Most of the packages are forks of other projects (and there are even more):ogon-pulseaudio <- pulseaudio ogon-weston <- weston ogon-x-backend <- xserverogon-libxfont <- libxfont (The docs are not quite clear about if this is needed at all for up-to-date distros)What's the scary part about that?
Code de-deduplication should be avoided in Debian, so shipping two pulseaudios (one for ogon, one for everything else) is not Debian policy compliant.
Besides the possible auto-dependency hell if shipping multiple libraries with the same name?
That is the least problem, indeed.
Some of the packages allow renaming of the libraries with a prefix, if I recall correctly that was the case with pulseaudio at least.
I guess we need to get in touch with upstream about possibilities of dropping those code deduplications where possible. I talked to Bernhard about this some time ago (when we met personally at one of the X2Go Gatherings).
So my next step will be to get acquainted with the git-based packaging workflow.
Good. Feel free to ask any question if they come up.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to "keep things rolling" :-)
Providing your debian/ folders on salsa is the best thing to do as the next step.
