Can you give a status update?
On amd64 and arm64, the remaining libraries to transition are ggml,
rccl, stdgpu, magma-rocm. Of these, only stdgpu exists in testing,
although it will be autoremoved in four days on Nov 24th. At that point,
I think all RC bugs blocking the migration to testing can be closed or
downgraded.
On ppc64el, the rocfft and rocblas libraries FTBFS due to LLVM bugs
[1][2]. While there appear to be third-parties interested in helping
with these bugs, I don't expect a quick resolution. The rocfft and
rocblas libraries have built successfully on ppc64el in the past but we
have no evidence that they've ever actually /worked/, so I don't see any
reason to block the transition. My current plan is to file RM requests
for rocfft and hipfft to remove them from testing, downgrade the ppc64el
FTBFS to severity important, and thereby allow the libraries to migrate
without a ppc64el build.
Remaining tasks:
- Upload rocblas 6.4.4-2 to fix FTBFS of the architecture independent
packages (pending).
- Request binNMU for ggml.
- Patch and upload magma-rocm 2.9.0+ds-3.
- Patch and NMU stdgpu 1.3.0+git20220507.32e0517-6.1.
- Upload rccl 6.4.3-1.
I'm expecting to be able to complete everything but the rccl upload this
week. The rccl upload might be tricky, but it's a leaf package and sid-only.
Sincerely,
Cory Bloor
