I didn't mean to suggest you had specifically endorsed a new upstream.
I can briefly recap the 4 changes in the upstream versus what we would
have carrying patches instead:
1. old patch from us to fix import (in trixie)
-> no net source code change
2. new patch from us to allow log rotation to be implemented cleanly
-> no net source code change
3. small change affecting wtmpdbd which we do not build
-> no change to Debian binary
4. improved error strings
-> more user-friendly error messages. Not needed but not a risk.
I have no problem with reworking to ship just the first two patches
instead if required - I opted for the new upstream because I thought
that was cleaner and clearer.
Thanks,
Andrew
