It should not differ in any significant way, and there was no reason for users
to install it. It was supposed to be used as a build-dependency by another
package, but this other package never spawned into existence.

Do you think I should tweak some other package built from src:mono to force the
removal of mono-source on upgrade? Or maybe turn it into an empty dummy package
with a description explaining how to get the source through `apt source mono`?

I could do that, but I think it would be a bit overkill here. I don’t think
anyone ever installed mono-source but by mistake.
