With "adjusted build-dependencies" do you mean the Architecture field, or do you mean the "B-D-that-doesnt-exist [<arch-to-not-build>]" trick, or something else? Nowadays it's recommended to not handle this via the Architecture field but via that non-existing B-D [1]
You only need to do this at the bottom of the stack; everything that misses its build depends on an arch is not build. But yes, the ftp-master might need to remove things is one go and/or in the right order to prevent rebuilds.
